It started with a pool and a genuinely terrible invoice
A while back, I hired a company to open my pool for the season. They did great work, and then left behind an invoice that looked like it had been scribbled on the way out the door. A handful of line items, a few numbers, and… no total. Nowhere did it actually say what I owed.
So I called to ask. No answer. Called again. Still nothing. What should have been a two-minute "pay and move on" turned into days of guesswork and phone tag, just to hand someone money I was perfectly happy to pay.
Somewhere in the middle of that, I thought: it should not be this hard to send a clear invoice and get paid for good work.
So I built the better way
I've spent the last 15 years as a software engineer, a good chunk of it in fintech, payments, billing, and the plumbing that moves money around safely. And I kept running into the same thing: the tools built for invoicing were either bloated, overpriced accounting suites packed with features most people never touch, or barely-there templates that left you exactly where that pool company left me.
Service businesses and freelancers don't need a finance degree or a hundred buttons. They need to make a clean invoice, send it, and get paid, without the monthly bill stinging every time.
